Hey there! I’m TSgt Renick Darnell-Martin and I was born in Detroit, Michigan. I moved to Vermont as a kid with my family and have called Vermont home ever since. However, as a young adult I spent most of my time traveling around the country and the world as a professional athlete. During this time I also trained extensively in martial arts and am a Certified Instructor. In 2009, I switched gears and started college at the University of Vermont and in 2013 I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Political Science. That same year I decided it was time to switch gears one more time and to use all my skills and abilities to serve my country; so I joined the Vermont Air National Guard. I desired a challenge and to be part of elite group of airmen; so I picked Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) as my career field. EOD is basically the military version of the Bomb Squad. The training for EOD is one of the most demanding and difficult trainings the military has to offer.
So it was with great pride and satisfaction when I graduated the Joint Service Naval School of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD) in 2015. Since then I have enjoyed an incredible career here at the Vermont Air National Guard as an EOD technician. I’ve worked side by side with Vermont State Police Bomb squad and other Federal Agencies as well executing the multiple faceted Ground Mission that EOD serves for our unit. Basically, my life is a blast! I am a proud father of two and family man and I also truly enjoy giving back to my community through the Air Guard. So it’ s with endless enthusiasm that I look forward to helping other’s join us and be a part of this amazing Air National Guard Unit!
